Spain is one of the countries in Europe where, as we know, the conflict between the traditional taxi sector and digital platforms such as Uber or Cabify, which operate legally through driver’s licenses, VTC licenses, as the courts have already declared, and even the Supreme Court, on multiple occasions, is having more relevance.

At least until now, since different administrations, such as Barcelona City Council or the general administration of the state, have been announcing new regulations and restrictions to the operation and way of providing the service of these digital platforms.

Thus, for example, the Spanish Council of Ministers has announced the approval of a new law that would modify the regulatory change as well as the judicial resolutions, in the sense of restricting the operation of applications such as Uber or Cabify, in favour of the taxi.

For its part, the Spanish competition authority has expressed its concern about these new regulations, as they may be restrictions that are harmful to consumers and have no justification.
