ELISA PEÑALVO

Title: Grow Green, co-creation of nature based solutions for Valencia city challenges

Description: Grow Green is the European funded H2020 project creating climate and water resilient, healthy and liveable cities by investing in nature based solutions co-created with the communities involved. In Valencia city, this project will be developed using a collaborative toolkit for stakeholder involvement. With the support of this toolkit, Grow Green stakeholders will be involved in the co-design, co-deliver and co-manage the demonstration projects.

Member of the consortium of the H2020 funded project “Grow Green”. Doctorate in Energy Technology with Electrical intensification. Industrial Engineer, Master’s Degree in Renewable Energies – Energy Efficiency and Master’s Degree in Energy Technologies for a Sustainable Development. She teaches at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Valencia since 2015. 15 years of research experience, mainly in the field of Energy and Sustainability. More specifically, her research work is on Distributed Energy Resources and Hybrid Renewable Systems (Biomass, Wind, Hydrogen and Fuel Cells), Energy Efficiency, Energy Sustainability and Energy Markets.

MANUEL MARTINEZ

Title: Peer Production: makerspaces and maker projects in Valencia

Description: Together with Chele Esteve Sendra, in their presentation they will define the idea of Open Design and Maker spaces as collaborative platforms and open participation collaboratively producing innovation projects that generate economic and social benefits. To illustrate these ideas, they will show a few examples, developed in Spain, of how it can be done.

PhD by the design program at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (1998); Lecture of Product Design at the Engineering Design School (from 1995); FabLab Valencia Director (from 2012) and Member of the Board of the Spanish Network Digital Creation and Fabrication (from 2016). Prospective, Evaluation and Foresight Agency of Valencia Award (AVAP) (2010); Awarded aid for research on Craft Research EOI-Fundesarte (2011); Finalist for Spanish National Craft Awards (2013). He has coordinated various activities of the local maker community, such as BeMaker Fest and European Maker Week. He belongs to the OuiShare community and defends the values of circular economy.

CHELE ESTEVE SENDRA

To illustrate these ideas, they will show a few examples, developed in Spain, of how it can be done.

PhD in Fine Arts. She currently performs this work in the Design Department, at the Fine Arts Faculty in Valencia and the Engineering Design School (Universitat Politécnica de Valéncia). Academic Coordinator of Master’s Degree in Industrial Design, Higher Polytechnic School, in Universidad de Nebrija, Madrid, from 2016. She works as a columnist in the Diario Levante EMV and is member of the AVCA, Valencian Association of Art Critics. She is an unconditional of design and other events such as art, music and film.
