This is the projection made by the study `Platforms of Collaborative Economics: A Global View’ of the Ostelea School of Tourism & Hospitality and written by the researchers Albert Beltran i Cangròs and María del Pilar Leal (IDITUR Institute). The study is available here.
Among other conclusions, the study details that between 2013 and 2015, the total value of the transactions on these platforms has doubled, while their revenues have almost quadrupled. However, with the exception of Airbnb, more than 70% of the people who use these platforms to earn income earn less than $500 per month. Similarly, in terms of market value, Uber stands out with a value of 50,000 million dollars, followed by Airbnb with 25,500 million euros which, despite the large number of platforms, these two companies accumulate 60% of the market value.
